The Rangers of the Order, also known as Watchers or simply Rangers, were the elusive group of military men who served Lord Kwagar Ocata in Middle Earth.
The Rangers were described by the Bree-folk as taller and fairer, with strange skills in sight and hearing. They usually wore grey or dark green cloaks with no identifying ornaments. Another identifying feature was that all of them wore a grey or green hood. Equipped primarily with swords and bows, with some wielding magic, they were quick, versatile, and experienced riders.
HistoryEditCharacteristically elusive and enigmatic, the Rangers spent most of their lives in the wild, visiting towns and villages only on rare occasions. The Rangers were led by Captain Ibram Venables. These Chieftains could trace their lines back to himself and his father. Venables was the designated figure of authority for the Rangers, the scattered people had no official headquarters possibly lived in temporary camps scattered about the wilderness.
The Rangers of the Order faithfully preserve the line of Kwagar and the ways of the Grand Imperial Order and the ancient heirlooms of the House Ocata. Like the Dúnedain (many of them are) , they were very friendly with the Elves, a number of elves serving in the ranks of the Rangers. They secretly guard and protect much of the Bree-lands and Buckland, as well as the Shire.
